Drum granulation mixes powdered raw materials with binders and granulates them by the mechanical action of a rotating drum. Its main advantages include:
Large continuous production capacity: The drum granulator can operate continuously for 24 hours, and the capacity of each machine can reach 10 to 50 t/h, which is ideal for large-scale production of compound fertilizer.
High roundness: Due to the rotary friction and impact of the particles, their surface is smooth and their resistance is high, which reduces the pulverization rate in the subsequent classification process.
Wide formula: The proportion of raw materials (such as nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium) can be flexibly adjusted, which is suitable for various types of compound fertilizers, such as high nitrogen fertilizers, sulfur-based fertilizers and chlorine-based fertilizers.
Optimization of thermal efficiency: By combining the above two equipment, the machine and the cooler for the process period, the integration of granulation, drying and cooling is achieved, reducing the system and improving production efficiency.
The main equipment is the inclined drum granulator. The inclination of the frame (generally 2° to 5°) and the installation must be adjusted according to the characteristics of the order to ensure that the particles form a virtuous cycle of “rolling-binding-compaction” in the store.
Raw material molding: Powdered raw material must pass through crushers and screens to ensure uniform particle size and avoid agglomeration during granulation.
Drying and cooling: After granulation, the particles are preprocessed by a rotary pre-machine and then pass through a fluidized bed cooler to the next stage to ensure particle strength.
Industrial application of drum granulation
This process is especially suitable for the production of high concentration compound fertilizers (such as 15-15-15, 17-17-17 and other formulations). The compressive strength of the particles can exceed 20 N, which meets the needs of long-distance transportation and mechanized fertilization. At the same time, the addition of anti-caking agents or coating oils can further improve product stability during storage.
